A National Historic Landmark and the oldest post in the Marine Corps, Quarters 6 is the Home of the Commandant of the United States Marine Corps.
Interior Renovations to the First Floor of Quarters 6, included removal and replacement of wood flooring; plaster repairs; painting; wall coverings; upgrades to two bath rooms; installation of stone flooring and tile; modifications to the existing Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning Systems and the installation of new and replacement lighting fixtures. This very fast track project was made even more difficult when we found, after removing the wood flooring, that the supporting timbers were severely termite damaged. The timbers were replaced or repaired and the new wood flooring installed over a now solid support system.
It should be noted that all work was completed while General and Mrs. James Jones occupied Quarters 6. Their patience, hands on involvement and cooperation throughout the duration of this project made a tough project easier.
